Mein Krieg Hitler Youth
The video Mein Krieg was a very powerful film of the Eastern Front in WWII. The film shows a few survivors from the German army filming what they saw and talked about their experiences. In Mein Krieg, some of the film shows kids from the Hitler Youth program as well. In those films and what some of the veterans talked about the Hitler Youth program turned the kids into an army for the future. Some of the kids did not notice at the time that they were being used for war in the future. Training them made them able to follow orders easier when the time came for them to fight. According to one of the survivors the kids did not want to fight because of what they heard from their parents about what fighting was like in WWI. The Hitler Youth program made it easier for them to follow orders when needed later. As part of their training some of the film showed kids marching and always moving around. The people in charge made the youth to always keep moving to stay into shape. Some of the survivors talked about how they were blinded by social pressure to stay in the youth and to follow the orders of the Nazis. While they were reviewing their film, they started remembering the names and faces of the people who were part of the Hitler Youth and of the Eastern Front and all of those experiences resurfacing once again.
